If it isn't already obvious, The Chevwrong Cars is a parody of the popular television commercials for Chevron's allegedly "clean" gasoline. It isn't meant to imply that Chevron is somehow worse than the other oil companies, just that they've been more effective at making their noxious product seem cuddly and cute.
We started working on Episode 1 in October of 2003 and finally finished in May of 2004. (It didn't really take that long; we were just really busy with other projects.) It was shot with a friend's Panasonic AG-DVX100 and captured with Frame Thief, a free download for Mac users.
We are extremely grateful to our friends who encouraged us and managed not to knock over the set while it sat in the middle of our living room for nine months. We'd especially like to thank: Katie Superstar, Michael & Godfrey, Naomi, Matt McCarron, Dr. Sutton, Monster, Tim & Claudette, and Aaron's mom.
It is surprisingly difficult to find statistics on the effects of air pollution for North America as a whole. We were greatly assisted in our search by Ray at Better Environmentally Sound Transportation, Jose at the David Suzuki Foundation, Bernadette Rappold at the Environmental Protection Agency, and by The Ozone Action Partnership-New Jersey.
